There might still be a few bugs throughout the site I have to work out, if there is, I’ll be fixing them quickly.

I have this move setup in such a way though that most viewers will never see any downtime at all.  My hope is that no one even notices any changes, besides the faster loading speeds of my site.

I will post again once this process is complete.

The mobile version also does not contain any graphical enhancements like the normal version. This means my site will now load faster on mobile devices which typically do not have very fast transfer speeds.

If you are viewing my site on a regular desktop or laptop you will not notice any changes to my site.

These posts however will be about things not related to me, such as interesting news articles, technology subjects, sports, and more.  Basically anything I decide to write about that is not related to me in any way really.

It is my hope that I will get more traffic to my site from search engines on these topics that I write about and that people will participate in discussion with me about them through my site comments feature.

I should have the first few posts in this category up soon.

Because this is hosted on my home connection there will probably still be some future downtime.  Also, this will probably cause my site to load a little slow.  I hope to have this site back on my main (fast/dedicated) server within the next month.

Jeremyjefferson.com however will remain fully functional and will redirect to jeremyj.com.  In fact, you will notice many links (especially for the page design) still refer to jeremyjefferson.com.

I don’t believe this should cause any issues, however please leave me a comment if you notice any part of my site acting weird, or not working at all because of this change.

Yep, that’s right. I am very excited as I’ve been trying/wanting to get this domain for three years now. Basically when I first bought a domain for my personal site (this site here) I wanted something to do with my name and be short. Jeremy.com was already taken obviously, so I tried jeremyj.com. Unfortunatly this was also taken. Eventually I just ended up with jeremyjefferson.com.

Jeremyjefferson.com is a fine domain for me (I think everyone should try to get their full name in a dot-com), but it is way to long for people to type out or even remember.

Ever since that day I have wanted jeremyj.com and wanted it bad. I hope the old owner of this domain reads this some day, but I sent 3-5 emails to the former owner from 2006-2007 trying to get a hold of the guy who owned it. Basically I said I was interested in purchasing the domain from him and asked his price. I was going to accept anything $200 or less on the spot. Sad thing is, after 2007 the guy didn’t even use the domain and had no site on it. He never responded to any of the emails, so I gave up.

Well, last year during September (2007) I was all excited. Jeremyj.com was about to expire! Unfortunately the dude renewed it and the domain stayed alive until September of this year (2008). I didn’t stop watching the domain however….

Well, September 2008 rolled around again and the domain was ready to expire if he didn’t renew. This time he did not renew. The domain eventually went to auction which I did not bid in (lack of funds at the time). Fortunately no one placed a bid on it.

Now, almost 80 days after the domain expired I successfully obtained it with a Godaddy backorder for $18.99 ($17.01 after coupons). I will be posting an entry here later on my experience with Godaddy backorders. Luckily for Godaddy this will be a very good review.

So now I have this to decide: Should I leave jeremyjefferson.com as the domain for this site, having jeremyj.com forward to it? Should I have jeremyj.com take over as the domain for this site and have jeremyjefferson.com forward to it. Or should I allow both of them to work without forwards?

Personally I’m probably going to go with keeping jeremyjefferson.com as the main or have jeremyj.com become the main and forward the other one to it.

If anyone has suggestions, I’d love to hear them.

My goal is to offer some of the most advanced free hit counter available on the web.  This includes the ability to highly customize your hit counter and view detailed stats about your hits.  These stats include detailed logs with graphs.

This is still a work in progress but it is fully functional right now.

The best part is, these counters can be used on sites such as eBay.com.

Unfortunately, I was/am still sore from my hernia surgery so that held me back from doing some things.  I go to see the doctor for the follow-up surgery on Tuesday this week.  I believe he will basically just look at it and tell me I’m good to go, but I will be sure to update you all on that.

I AM VERY PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT THIS POST IS MY 200TH POST SO FAR ON MY SITE!!!  THIS IS A HUGE MILESTONE FOR MY WEBSITE IN MY OPINION.  I FIRST STARTED BLOGGING ON THIS SITE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2005.

You could make your blog check my list when someone tries to comment on your blog and if they are present in my list, you can stop it before it appears on your site.  I hope this serves some purpose to some people.  Remember, this list will continue to grow every day.

By clicking the new Site Info button at the top of the site, you can now view stats that are specific to my site.  These stats, however, only show minimal information.  Plus, these stats only include hits to my wordpress (what runs my site) portion of my website.  Therefor, it doesn’t include hits for like images, downloads, or other stuff.

I may eventually release this as a stats plugin for wordpress.

Overall my site saw 40341 hits with 6274 unique hits!  That last part there is a new record! 

That means that 6274 different people visited my site last month.  Granted some of those are bots, like google, but most of them are real people.

I really don’t know the reason for the high success…especially since I didn’t even post in February … but I think this is good motivation for me to spend some more time updating my site.

October 5th – Happy Birthday to My Site

My site turned 2 years old on October 5th. This is actually not when I first opened this site, but I call it the official birthday to my site because its the day I switched it over to jeremyjefferson.com. Formally before this, for like 3 months, it was at another address and wasn’t a very pretty site at all.

Since the birth of my site on October 5th I have had over 500,000 views. I have posted about 170 posts since then also.

October 8th – Happy Birthday to Me

October 8th was my birthday. I turned 21 years old, and no I didn’t go get drunk since I don’t drink . Not much more to really say about this.

I ask that you please don’t do anything on my site during this time as there may be some weird results.

Update (Oct 10th): I have fixed all the problems with my site that occurred due to the backend upgrade. I am glad to say that as of right now, my site is fully operational again!

This is only a backend upgrade, no changes will be made to what you see.

I will be adding captions to all of them in the next few days.  So please check back.  Oh, and of course these pictures were taken like 16-20 years ago, so they are not the best of quality (no digital cameras then).  I copied all these pictures with my scanner and uploaded them.

By the way, its not an attempt for me to make money. I wouldn’t never put those kinds of ads on my site. I will probably eventually move it down to the sidebar, but for now, its going to be at the top for all to see.

Also, I have put back up my chat page. However now you don’t find it through the contact page. Just click the “Chat” button at the top. You must be using firefox to use it.  Unless you know how to phish your clients id .

However, anyone who does get banned can just answer a simple captcha security image and regain access to the site. Only until 3 spam comments are posted by the same IP is the IP permanently banned from the site. I hope this works out great for my site and improves the comment area of my site.
